The Ordinary: is it worth the hype?

Hello Beauty Lovers,

For the past few months I have been seeing ‘The Ordinary’ skincare products hyped up on almost every social platform; known for its low price, promising results, active ingredients and amazing reviews… I just had to try it out!

Most of the reviews online has been extremely positive which sounds to good to be true and made me even more curious to give it a go, everything however was sold out both in-stores and online (obviously) and of course this made me want it even more!

I have been testing the products for around 2 months now, everyday, so in today’s post I will be giving you guys my complete and honest review on the products that I purchased. Obviously we all have different skin types so a quick background information on my skin type:

1.    Hormonal breakouts on my forehead area

2.    Very Dry and sensitive skin

3.    Dark under eye circles

4.    Enlarged pores on my nose and on the sides of my nose

SO… lets get this review going!

1.   The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% and EGCG

What it does: helps to fade dark circles and de-puff

I have hereditary dark circles (which isn’t as bad) and the only way to truly cover it up is with a concealer. I tried different eye creams and serums but nothing really worked for me like ‘Lancôme Advanced Genifique Eye Serum’ did and I was curious to see if this works as well as Lancôme as it promises to de-puff and help fade dark circles. Surprisingly, it works, but don’t expect overnight results; I noticed results after about a month of using it. I never had an issue with puffiness so I can’t say if it actually works, but it did help brighten my under eyes area.

2.   Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

What it does: hydrates your skin and leaves the skin looking smoother, softer and healthier.

I have dry, dehydrated skin and with the summer heat it just gets worse but; did it actually work? Yes, defiantly. My skin does in fact feel softer, smoother and looks super healthy. It doesn’t feel thick on the skin, which is always a plus. All you need to do is apply it on your fingers and spread it on dry clean skin, and then apply your favorite moisturizer. It gets absorbed by the skin quickly, doesn’t leave any residues behind. It also helps in minimizing the appearance of pores.

3.   AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

What it does: deep exfoliation to help fights sings of pores, improves skin radiance and reduces the appearance of fine lines.

You must have seen this all over Instagram and Tick Tock recently; the mixture of AHAs and BHAs deeply exfoliates to clear up congestion, dead skin, and hyperpigmentation. Keep in mind I have extremely sensitive skin, so I was actually a bit hesitant to use this product but after giving it a go my skin started to look brighter and smoother with no irritations. It should only be used twice a week, apply a few drops to your fingers then lather evenly across your face and neck area (not to be used on wet skin), avoid the eye area and DO NOT leave it for more then 10 minutes.

Have you tried any of The Ordinary products? And what are your thoughts on them?
