Fashion Rules Everyone Should Live By

You don’t have to take a course of lectures or even follow the latest fashion shows to transform your own style and to make sense of what’s trendy that specific season. Looking fashionable and put together isn’t always about wearing the coolest trends or mastering a complicated styling tricks, or even wearing the most expensive clothes. It can really be as easy as loosely tucking in your shirt, throwing on a pair of sunglasses, or adding more layers to your look. 

Although sometimes this is easier said than done, being able to dress chic and stylish every day is a skill that can be difficult to master. So, today I have decided to take a step back and help ease the stress of getting dressed by emphasizing on the fundamental fashion rules every woman should embrace at all time.

If you are an avid reader of my blog – which I hope you are – every now and then I like to bring up fashion rules/guidelines/tips that are applicable in a more general way. No specific rules, but timeless fashion rules that you need to live by in your everyday life. With tons of information on your screen, all of these tips can be overwhelming sometimes. So, here are my everyday styling tips for nailing your own style.

Style More, Shop Less:

This expression can’t get any truer! When you learn how to style the clothes you already own, you will notice how your need of buying new clothing items decreases. By learning how to style better, your wardrobe will expand in size as you will have a whole lot of new outfits to wear. 

Quality Over Quantity:

I can’t recommend choosing quality over quantity enough. When it comes to building a classic wardrobe that you can wear year-round and for years to come, a small selection of staple classic, well-made pieces is key. 

Rely On Staples:

With a good base of classic, wearable and versatile clothing pieces, you’re fashion game will be so much better. By relying on the wardrobe staples you’ll save time, money and energy, as the basics will never go out of style. Make sure that your fashion staples are the core of your wardrobe and you’re pretty much good to go!

Mix Textures:

Don’t be afraid to mix and match different patterns in one look, you can opt to go bold with your color choices or keep them all in the same shade to make the texture mixing more subtle.

Go Monochrome:

Pick one hue and go for it! This option makes getting dressed for the day easier and way faster since it narrows down your choices.

Mix Trends With Timeless Staples:

There is no need to look trendy from head to toe, simply balance trendy pieces with basics you already own. For example, pairing a statement shoes with simple mom jeans and your favorite blazer.

Play With Proportions:

Looking fashionable and put-together is all about playing with proportions, for example, wearing a bra top with an oversized blazer. Proportion doesn’t only mean pairing different shapes, but also with structure such as tight and loose silhouettes or even different textures.

Try Men’s Clothing:

You can find some great gems hidden in the men’s section especially in thrift shops. You can play around with men’s clothing and style them in many different ways. 

Invest In Great Bras:

Something not everyone tells you about but a great bra can be defined as a bra that actually fit your body. It doesn’t matter how expensive the bras are, but if they don’t perfectly fit your body, they are not going to work. Bras will keep your breasts in perfect shape that will definitely make a huge difference to your appearance.

Handbags Are the Best Investment:

Handbags are the most important accessories that help express the style of every woman. It doesn’t matter what brand or how much you got it for, whether it’s the budget option from Zara or from Louis Vuitton, the most important thing is that it expresses whom you are.

Wear Sunglasses:

Sunglasses help elevate your look without putting any effort. In my opinion, it’s the best accessory you can ever wear.
