10 Tips & Tricks when Sale Shopping

Hello Everyone,

It’s that time of year again: the sales are here, and nearly every shop (online or in-store) has discount signs all over it! One of the biggest shopping seasons is now upon us; the Mid-year sales! Its the best time to score deals on items you have been eyeing for a while now. However, with all the deals going on, shopping can begin to feel seriously overwhelming; you will most probably end up spending way too much on useless stuff that will just end up hanging in your wardrobe.

How to avoid over-shopping and buying unnecessary items? Well, you came to the right place; I have listed down 10 tips and tricks I learned to master when it comes to sale shopping over the years.

  • Create a List:

To avoid coming home with unwanted items, make a list of things that you actually need before you head out and stick to it. Sale shopping can be very dangerous, so going in with an idea of what you want to get is always a plus.

  • Stick to your budget:

All those bargains can actually make you end up spending more money then you anticipated, so just set a budget on what you can spend. Its best to avoid using credit cards, instead opt for cash or prepaid cards.

  • Ask Yourself: Does it Spark Joy?

Channel your inner Marie Kondo and ask yourself if that item sparks joy and will you ever buy it full price? It’s really easy to be tempted to buy an item that you don’t really want. Just remember that a bargain is only a bargain if you actually need the product.

  • Get on the Mailing List:

In order to know if a sale has started at your favorite shop/site, its best to sign up to their mailing lists to get notified instantly.

  • Keep an Eye Out for Discount Marks:

I don’t know if any of you have ever noticed this, but some stores usually mark tags with letters or numbers or even shapes to indicate to staff that that item will be going on sale. Just keep an eye out for those marks next time you go shopping, if you see anything on the tag; just hold on for a few days.

  • Shop Online:

Shops can be a little bit overwhelming during sale season; mostly all shops are now online as well, shopping online could be a good way to score some amazing deals without having to actually visit the shop. It allows you to take your time and to shop at ease.

  • Ensure Changing Room Ease:

Changing rooms are usually packed with long waiting queues, try avoiding that by trying out items your not too sure about and make sure you wear a loose dress, slip on shoes and cross-body bag to make your life easier.

  • Make Friends with Shop Assistance:

Shop assistances can be extremely helpful during these times, they can help you find out when further reductions will be made and whether there are more sizes on the item your looking at so make sure you make friends with shop assistance.

  • Keep an Eye on the Shop Layout:

During sale, usually shops change there layout, so keep an eye out for a change in store layout once you get in.

  • Look for Investment Pieces:

Its best to keep an eye out for investment pieces that rarely ever go on sale; once they hit the sales rack, make sure your the first one to grab one as they will stay with you for years.
